How Manchester United could line up against Granada

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester United could line up for the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash with Granada.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is sweating over the fitness of Marcus Rashford ahead of his side's Europa League quarter-final first leg with Granada on Thursday.

The England international limped off after 72 minutes against Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend, and it remains to be seen how serious the issue is, but Solskjaer will certainly not take any unnecessary risks this week, even if Rashford has travelled with the team.

As a result, Daniel James should start in the Europa League for the fifth time in a row at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, allowing Paul Pogba to continue operating in his preferred midfield role.

The Frenchman bagged the winner in the second leg of United's last-16 tie with AC Milan and is expected to line up from the first whistle again, which would leave Fred and Scott McTominay to battle for the chance to play alongside him, and the Brazilian may be given the nod.

Solskjaer has also been rocked by the news that Anthony Martial's knee injury could sideline him until the start of the new season, so Edinson Cavani will continue to spearhead the Red Devils' attack.

Alex Telles would hope to come into contention for this game, but he missed out the win over Brighton through illness and may not be considered for a start, while Eric Bailly is unavailable after returning a positive coronavirus test.

With Dean Henderson seemingly staking a claim to become Man United's first-choice goalkeeper in the Premier League, David de Gea, who is being linked with a summer exit, will hope to return in between the sticks for the Europa League.

Man United possible starting lineup:
De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Fred, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, James; Cavani
