Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has welcomed the on-field argument that occurred between Rasmus Hojlund and Amad Diallo shortly after the full-time whistle against Viktoria Plzen.

The Red Devils came from behind to record a 2-1 victory on Thursday night, with Hojlund netting twice after being introduced off the bench in the Czech Republic.

Man United had chances to score a third late on, and Hojlund and Amad were involved in a heated discussion after the clash, with both guilty of not setting up the other in the final stages.

Amorim has welcomed the friction at the full-time whistle, insisting that "it's a positive thing", with disagreements demonstrating how much the players are willing "to fight" to achieve a common goal.

Amorim welcomes 'argument' between Amad, Hojlund

"It's a positive thing, a healthy thing, perfect. In this moment, we need to feel something, if we need to fight each other it's like a family, for me it's a very, very good sign," Amorim told reporters during his post-match press conference.

"When you don't care, you do nothing, when you care, you fight with your brother, with your father, with your mother. It's a normal thing, so I leave it to the players and captain to calm things down.

"If it's too much I will go inside the dressing room. But it's their space, they have to talk, to fight — it's very important. I am happy we win the game and still fight each other, that is a very good thing. When you win and you fight with your team-mate because you want to score one more. It's a very good day for us.

"We know that we need to win one game and they fought until the end. That was important. I think we deserved the win. We didn't play very well but we fought and we managed not to give up. That was a key point for me and we are in a good place in the table. It's really important we take those two [potential play-off] games from our schedule, to find time to work.

"We are improving in some details. We control really well the transitions and we are aggressive when we lose the ball. We need time to work on the possession, this team needs to spend a lot of time near the opponent's goal and not just in transition. So we are trying to work on that but it's good to win, to prepare the next game. It's really important for us."

Where are Man United in the Europa League table?

Man United have now picked up 12 points from their opening six matches in this season's Europa League, which has left them in seventh spot in the table, one point ahead of ninth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

As it stands, the Red Devils would automatically qualify for the next round, while they are five points ahead of 24th-placed Elfsborg in the battle to secure at least a playoff spot in the European competition.

Man United will conclude their league phase with fixtures against Rangers and FCSB in January. body check tags ::
