Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly prepared to hand call-ups to a pair of academy players for Thursday's night match in the Europa League.

The Red Devils will welcome Bodo/Glimt of Norway to Old Trafford, where 39-year-old Amorim will walk out as boss for the first time at the Theatre of Dreams.

His maiden match as Man United head coach ended in a split of the points at Portman Road on Sunday afternoon, when the visitors were held by Ipswich Town.

A goal from Marcus Rashford within the opening 82 seconds of the match handed Amorim a perfect start to life in England, before Omari Hutchinson restored parity in the contest for the Tractor Boys.

After earning a point in East Anglia on the weekend, Man United are sitting 12th in the Premier League table, six points behind Arsenal in fourth.

Man United hand two youngsters senior call-ups?

According to Manchester Evening News, Man United boss Amorim is considering handing a call-up to academy defender Jack Kingdon for Thursday's European match.

The 19-year-old centre-back has impressed in the youth ranks of the Red Devils this season but is yet to make an appearance in a senior squad for the club.

Kingdon has trained with Amorim's first team at the beginning of this week and has not travelled with the youth side for their UEFA Youth League clash at AZ Alkmaar.

It is understood that the Red Devils could also bring Godwill Kukonki into their 23-man squad for the visit of Bodo/Glimt, with the youngster yet to make a first-team appearance.

That being said, the towering 16-year-old defender has enjoyed a brief experience of Amorim's workings so far, forming part of the travelling party for the trip to Ipswich on the weekend.

Why are Kingdon, Kukonki training with the first team?

Following their impressive performances for Man United's youth teams, it would be cruel to argue that Kingdon and Kukonki are undeserving of first-team involvement in some capacity.

However, the young defenders have been fast-tracked into the senior setup of the club due to the current injury crisis at centre-back in Amorim's squad.

All of Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are experiencing varying spells in the Red Devils medical room as the festive period approaches.

With Amorim favouring a formation containing three centre-backs, Kingdon and Kukonki look set to provide depth in a problematic area of the pitch for Man United on Thursday night. body check tags ::
