Manchester City 'willing to pay Lautaro Martinez release clause'

:Headline: Manchester City 'willing to pay Lautaro Martinez release clause':
Manchester City are prepared to pay just over £97m to sign Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez this summer, according to a report.

Manchester City are reportedly willing to activate the release clause in Lautaro Martinez's Inter Milan contract in order to sign the centre-forward during this summer's transfer window.

The Premier League champions are said to have identified the Argentina international as the ideal long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero.

Martinez is also believed to be on Barcelona and Real Madrid's radar, though, having scored 16 times in 31 appearances for Antonio Conte's side during an impressive 2019-20 season.

According to Sport, City would be prepared to pay the South American's full release clause of €111m (£97.2m), which is valid between July 1 and July 15, in order to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.

The report also claims that Pep Guardiola's side are ready to offer the striker a net annual salary of more than €10m (£8.8m) in the hope of holding off interest from elsewhere.

Martinez has scored 25 times in 66 appearances for Inter since arriving in 2018. body check tags ::
