Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has reportedly flown to Italy to finalise his move to AC Milan.

Walker is on the verge of calling time of his time at the Etihad Stadium, with the 34-year-old set to swap the Premier League for Serie A.

The right-back is seemingly keen to try a fresh challenge after seeing his performances come under scrutiny at various points this season.

Walker has also found himself out of Pep Guardiola's side this season, having started 11 of his 18 appearances in all competitions.

The defender's most recent outing came as a substitute in Man City's 4-1 Premier League home victory against West Ham United earlier this month.

Walker close to completing Milan move

However, Walker has been allowed to miss the club's last three games to seal his exit away from the Etihad Stadium.

According to the Daily Mail, Milan are expecting Walker to arrive in Italy on Tuesday to complete his move to Sergio Conceicao's side.

Man City are expected to allow Walker to leave on a free transfer despite the fact that he has a contract until the summer of 2026.

Walker is set to undergo a medical in the next day or so before putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year contract with Milan.

The experienced full-back will join a Milan squad that already boasts several English players in Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori, although the latter has been linked with a potential move to Juventus.

How does Walker's move affect Rashford?

Walker is set to leave Man City after making 319 competitive appearances since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2017.

During his time with the club, he has won six Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups, a Champions League, a UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup.

With Walker set to sign for the Rossoneri, Marcus Rashford will have to consider alternative options if he is to leave Manchester United in the current window.

Italian clubs are only allowed to sign one British player per transfer window under Serie A rules following Brexit, meaning that Rashford will be unable to join Walker at San Siro this month.

The Man United forward has been linked with a number of other clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona and Monaco. body check tags ::
