Manchester City attacker Julian Alvarez has expressed his contentment at the Etihad amid reports linking him to La Liga giants Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old bagged a brace and provided an assist in the Club World Cup final win over Brazilian outfit Fluminense on Friday evening, securing the Citizens' fifth major trophy of 2023.

Alvarez was deployed in his natural central-striking role against the South American champions due to the absence of Erling Haaland, but the youngster has featured across Pep Guardiola's frontline this season.

Having enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at River Plate before sealing a switch to the blue side of Manchester in July 2022, the Argentine has won the Copa Libertadores as well as the Premier League, Champions League, Copa America and World Cup.

Speaking after Man City secured the status of world champions in Saudi Arabia last week, Alvarez insisted that he is focusing solely on achieving further success with the Citizens.

"The truth is that I am very happy at Manchester City," Alvarez said following City's win over Fluminense. "I have been at the club for a little more than a year. I feel very happy with everything we have achieved."

"Last season and from the first moment they have helped me a lot. I have grown a lot as a player, as a person, so in terms of that, I am happy at the club. And obviously one continues to dream and continues to want to win more titles. Now our goal is to win them all over again.

"To be - in a short time - world champion with the club and with the Argentinian national team is a source of pride," the 23-year-old added. "It is something that I've dreamed of dreams of since childhood and having achieved this gives me a lot of satisfaction.

"The truth is that I have achieved the most important titles that a player can achieve and at only 23 years old. But my mentality is to continue doing it this way, to do what I love, to play football and what makes me happy is being on the field.

"And obviously you have to compete to win. And the desire now is to continue doing the same and try to win [these titles] again, because the feeling of having achieved all these things is very nice."

Alvarez has been linked with moves to both Barcelona and Carlo Ancelotti's Madrid ahead of next summer's transfer window, although the player is currently happy at Etihad.

Although the Argentine does not play in his first-choice position unless talisman Haaland is injured, the former River Plate attacker has featured in all 17 of Man City's Premier League matches this term, providing 10 goal contributions.

After being crowned as the best club side in world football last weekend, a festive trip to Everton is set to remind Guardiola's men of the stresses of the Premier League on Wednesday night. body check tags ::
