Derby County are reportedly keen to sign Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts, who is currently on loan at Middlesbrough.

Derby County have reportedly made a loan approach for Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts.

While the 23-year-old is currently at Middlesbrough, the playmaker has been provided with just 334 minutes of action in the Championship this season.

According to Football League World, that has led to Wayne Rooney taking an interest in the winger ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.

Despite the Rams being required to improve their financial position, Rooney is able to bring in a number of players on a temporary basis.

Middlesbrough have recently signed Everton winger Yannick Bolasie, a deal which may lead to club officials preferring to end their arrangement with Roberts.

Boro boss Neil Warnock is also interested in bringing in former Cardiff City winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing on a free transfer. body check tags ::
