Pep Guardiola: 'Players can forget about unbeaten season'

Pep Guardiola claims that Manchester City will taste defeat sooner or later in the Premier League, having seen his side rack up seven victories on the bounce.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has told his players to "forget about" the prospect of remaining unbeaten for the duration of the 2017-18 campaign.

The Citizens have yet to taste defeat in their opening 14 games of the campaign in all competitions, most recently overcoming Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers on penalties in the last 16 of the EFL Cup.

Guardiola has once again stressed that matching Arsenal's achievement of 2003-04, when going all term without a single loss in the top flight, is simply not possible in the current day - as highlighted last season.

"I answered that in my last press conference - forget about it!" he told reporters. "We started the same way last season as this season. The same questions as in this period were happening last season. We are just in October. We realised in the last two or three games how difficult it is winning games.

"We will just be calm and focus on what we have to do. We have good results, we go game by game. We will analyse at the end of the season. We are okay but it was the same last season. In this period we were first or second, quite similar. Okay, less points but all the comments were good in that period."

City, who have won seven league games on the spin, head to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon for their next game.
