Sean Dyche unhappy with penalty decision

Burnley manager Sean Dyche criticises Manchester City winger Bernardo Silva for exaggerating his fall in order to win a penalty during his side's 3-0 win.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has criticised Manchester City winger Bernardo Silva for exaggerating the level of contact in order to win a penalty for his side during this afternoon's match at the Etihad Stadium.

Bernardo fell to the ground in dramatic fashion having beaten goalkeeper Nick Pope to the ball inside the box, leading to Roger East awarding the penalty which allowed City to take the lead.

Dyche admitted that the spot kick did not play a decisive role in the grand scheme of things, with his side going on to lose 3-0 against the league leaders, but believes that Silva made the most of minimal contact.

"To be clear, I don't think it was defining. They are a fine side, so you can't say that is going to affect the total outcome," he told reporters.

"There is contact. I don't know how the ref sees it because it is that instant, it's minimal and to get that high off the floor with your arms above your head is almost a skill in itself. I'm quite impressed by how far he travelled. If I kicked my kid in the garden I don't think he'd fall like that.

"The deciding factor is there is contact, but I don't think there is enough contact to fall in that fashion."

The result was Burnley's first away defeat of the season and leaves them with only one win from their last six outings across all competitions.
