Kevin De Bruyne: 'Unbeaten season unlikely'

Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne plays down suggestions that his side could go the entire season unbeaten.

Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has dismissed suggestions that his side could go the entire season unbeaten.

Pep Guardiola's side have made a blistering start to the new campaign, dropping just two points to sit five clear at the top of the Premier League after 10 games.

The Citizens also have maximum points from their three group games in the Champions League to date, while they have also come through two rounds of the EFL Cup, leading to murmurings that the side have the capability to replicate the success of the famous Invincibles Arsenal team of 2003-04.

"To go unbeaten? It's very hard. I don't think it will be possible," De Bruyne told reporters. "The level of competition is so high, in every team.

"It's not like, with all respect, 10 or 15 years ago where you had a couple of teams that wouldn't be able to win against the top ones.

"Every game is hard and you need to be mentally there. But as long as it keeps going it's good.

"We have guys who can score with their eyes closed. So we'll always have a chance of winning."

City face a tough trip to Serie A leaders Napoli in the Champions League tomorrow night before welcoming the in-form Gunners to the Etihad in the league on Sunday afternoon.
