Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Sheffield United

:Headline: Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Sheffield United:
Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Sheffield United on Sunday.
Sports Mole

Manchester City will look to maintain their perfect start to the 2023-24 Premier League season when they travel to Bramall Lane to face newly-promoted Sheffield United on Sunday.

The reigning champions have made a strong start to the new campaign, with a 3-0 victory over Burnley on the opening weekend followed by a 1-0 home success over Newcastle United last Saturday.

Pep Guardiola will not be on the touchline for City's next two games as he recovers from an emergency back operation in Barcelona, so assistant coach Juanma Lillo will take charge of the senior side for Sunday's trip to South Yorkshire and the home clash with Fulham before the international break.

Man City also have a few fitness concerns within their first-team squad, and here, Sports Mole rounds up their latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with the Blades.

Kevin De Bruyne

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Kevin De Bruyne underwent hamstring surgery last weekend and the playmaker is facing up to four months on the sidelines.

John Stones

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

John Stones is yet to play for Man City in a competitive game this season due to a muscle injury and the defender is not expected to return until after the international break.

Bernardo Silva

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury/issue: Illness
Possible return date: August 27 (vs. Sheffield United)

Bernardo Silva, who extended his contract until 2026 on Wednesday, has missed the last two games due to illness, but the versatile playmaker is expected to return for Sunday's fixture.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Manchester City have no suspended players for this match.
