Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling's record vs. West Ham United

Sports Mole looks at Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling's record against West Ham United ahead of the Hammers' midweek visit to the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City's penalty hero Raheem Sterling is in contention to start Wednesday's meeting with West Ham United as the champions return to Premier League action.

The England international converted the winning spot kick in Sunday's EFL Cup final clash with Chelsea, which finished goalless after 120 minutes.

Sterling may retain his place in the starting lineup for City's league clash with West Ham at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, where he will be looking to maintain his impressive form.

Ahead of the midweek showdown, Sports Mole looks at how Sterling tends to perform against the Hammers.

Man City have scored 22 goals across six meetings with West Ham since the start of last season, but Sterling has been responsible for just one of those.

That strike came in the reverse league fixture three months ago when converting from a Leroy Sane pass as City ran out 4-0 winners.

The former Liverpool man also set up a goal at the London Stadium, however, and he did likewise in the 5-0 FA Cup third-round win in January 2017, while also memorably claiming a hat-trick of assists in the away fixture last season.

Sterling has therefore played a direct part in 10 goals in eight previous encounters with West Ham as a City player, as well as boasting a return of two goals in five matches from his time at Liverpool.

Whether he is scoring or assisting, West Ham tends to be a team Sterling enjoys coming up against.
