How Manchester City could line up against Leicester City

By , Reporter | 5d
Ahead of the Boxing Day clash between Leicester City and Manchester City, Sports Mole looks at Pep Gusrdiola's side could line up against the Foxes.

Manchester City make the trip to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City on the back of a surprise defeat to Crystal Palace.

Pep Guardiola had been hoping to close the gap on leaders Liverpool to four points, but the setback at the Etihad Stadium has handed a clear advantage to the Merseyside giants.

City are facing Leicester for the second time in the space of a week having prevailed in a penalty shootout against the Foxes in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.

Guardiola has a number of selection dilemmas ahead of the game in the East Midlands, and here Sports Mole looks at how his team could line up on Boxing Day.

Out: Benjamin Mendy (knee), Claudio Bravo (Achilles), Eliaquim Mangala (knee)
Doubtful: David Silva (thigh), Vincent Kompany (muscular), Fernandinho (thigh)

Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero are both expected to feature in the starting lineup after successfully coming through outings from the bench at the weekend.

De Bruyne could be preferred to either Bernando Silva or Leroy Sane, while Aguero would take the place of Gabriel Jesus in attack.

Riyad Mahrez is also a likely inclusion against his former club, and Fabian Delph could be moved into midfield to accommodate Oleksandr Zinchenko being recalled at left-back.

Fernandinho will be assessed as he continues to recover from a thigh problem, while David Silva has returned to training after a similar issue.

John Stones may get the nod over Nicolas Otamendi in the centre of the backline.
