Liverpool are reportedly on the brink of signing Coventry City youngster Sam McCallum.

The 19-year-old has established himself as one of the top prospects in League One, having already made 27 appearances for the Sky Blues in all competitions.

The prospect's form has led to interest in his signature, with 90 min claiming that 20 clubs have had scouts present to monitor his development this season.

However, the report adds that Liverpool have emerged as the clear favourites to complete a deal for McCallum during the January transfer window.

Despite a lack of recognised backup for Andrew Robertson, it is said that the Premier League leaders would be happy to allow the Englishman to spend the rest of the campaign at his current club.
