Liverpool have reportedly emerged as favourites to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt.

The Germany international allegedly has a release clause of €25m (£21.61m), although the 23-year-old insists that he is only focusing on continuing his career at Leverkusen.

However, according to The Mirror, Liverpool remain confident that they will be able to see off Borussia Dortmund in the race for the player's signature.

The report suggests that any transfer could depend on whether Leverkusen qualify for the Champions League, with the Bundesliga side requiring a positive result from their final fixture of the campaign.

Brandt has contributed six goals and 11 assists from 32 outings in Germany's top flight this season.
