Dietmar Hamann urges Premier League clubs to move for Kai Havertz

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann claims that Kai Havertz is the best player in Germany at the moment and believes he should be attracting more interest.

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has claimed that Premier League clubs should be interested in Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz instead of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

The Bundesliga pair have both been linked with moves away from their respective clubs this summer, but it is Liverpool and Chelsea-linked Werner who has garnered the most attention so far.

However, Hamann believes that Havertz is the best player in Germany at the moment, comparing the 20-year-old to a young Michael Ballack.

"The one player who stands out for me is Kai Havertz from Leverkusen. He's an exceptional player, he reminds me of a young Michael Ballack," the former Germany international told Sky Sports News.

"He's got that air of arrogance in a good way about him. He's two-footed, he's tall, he's good in the air, he's very versatile. He can play across the front, he can play any position. I think he's the best player we've got in Germany at the moment.

"There's talk about Timo Werner going to England. Obviously he's a different player, but Havertz is the one I'd be looking at."

Havertz has scored six goals and created five more in 22 Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen this season.
