Everton are reportedly battling Merseyside rivals Liverpool for the signing of Ajax forward David Neres.

The 22-year-old has scored 11 goals this season as well as providing 15 assists, including a memorable strike in the Dutch side's 4-1 win against Real Madrid last month.

A host of European clubs are believed to have been monitoring the recently-capped Brazil international.

According to Brazilian outlet UOL, Everton are one of the sides keeping tabs on Neres, while Le10 Sport claims that Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on his services.

Neres, who joined Ajax from Sao Paulo in January 2017, is likely to be available for around £40m.
