Liverpool outcast Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly concerned about his future at the club amid his struggles for game time.

The Reds forked out £34.2m to sign the 28-year-old from Arsenal in the summer of 2017, but he has failed to make a consistent impact under Jurgen Klopp.

Injuries have not helped Oxlade-Chamberlain's cause, but the midfielder already finds himself behind Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara in the Anfield pecking order.

Furthermore, Curtis Jones, James Milner and Naby Keita have enjoyed more minutes in recent weeks than Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has not featured for the Reds in any competition since facing Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup back in March.

The former Southampton youngster has also not played in the Premier League since February, and Klopp has left him out of the squad for Liverpool's last five top-flight games.

With Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract due to expire at the end of next season, Liverpool have been tipped to garner a fee for the Englishman this summer rather than risk losing him for free in 2023.

According to the Daily Mail, Oxlade-Chamberlain is growing increasingly concerned about his future at Anfield, with the Reds yet to open talks over a possible contract renewal.

The report adds that Liverpool have "no active plans" to sell the ex-England international, and a decision on his future is not expected to be made before the end of the season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has made a total of 29 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists, but he has only started nine Premier League games.

The midfielder boasts an overall total of 17 goals and 14 assists in 133 games for Klopp's side but has missed a further 74 matches through various injury woes, including a cruciate ligament rupture in 2018.

While Oxlade-Chamberlain's future remains unclear at present, Liverpool are still set to bolster their midfield ranks in the summer window and are ready to welcome Fabio Carvalho to the club from Fulham.

The Reds tried and failed to strike a last-minute deal for the Portuguese in January but have now reportedly wrapped up a £7m deal, and Cottagers manager Marco Silva has now admitted that Carvalho will not be at the club next season.

Liverpool are also thought to be ahead of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the race for Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni, who would likely fetch a £59m figure to leave the Ligue 1 club this summer.

A move for Borussia Dortmund starlet Jude Bellingham has also been mooted, although the Black and Yellow have no intention of selling the 18-year-old anytime soon.

Liverpool's side are now three points behind Manchester City in second place in the Premier League table with three games remaining but would temporarily go top if they beat Aston Villa by at least four goals on Tuesday evening. body check tags ::
