Mohamed Salah has reportedly entered a fresh row with the Egyptian FA after the organisation failed to register its votes at FIFA's Best awards on Monday.

National team captain Ahmed Elmohamady and Olympic team coach Shawky Gharib both voted for Salah, but these votes did not register in the final count.

The forward, who is viewed as something of a demigod in Egypt, has removed any mention of playing for his country on his social media accounts.

According to The Mirror, Olympic coach Gharib has now called for an enquiry, which the federation will launch in an attempt to smooth over the row.

Salah took to Twitter on Monday night, posting an image of his face over the country's flag with the caption: "No matter how they try to change my love for you and your people they will not..."

The Liverpool star expressed anger with the Egyptian FA ahead of the World Cup in Russia last year after he was seemingly used as a political pawn by having to pose for a photo-op with Chechnya leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
