Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp calls Saturday's 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion 'the worst game of his managerial career'.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp branded Saturday's 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League 'the worst game of his managerial career'.

The Reds entered the match off the back of a 2-2 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers in the third round of the FA Cup, while they had lost their last league game against Brentford.

The Merseyside giants were unable to bounce back on Saturday, though, as they conceded three unanswered goals to Roberto De Zerbi's side in East Sussex.

Solly March netted twice for Brighton before Danny Welbeck scored a third in the 81st minute, with the result leaving the Seagulls in seventh spot in the table on 30 points, while Liverpool are eighth on 28 points, now seven points off the top four.

Klopp said that he was "massively frustrated" with the result and claimed that he "can't remember a worse game" during his managerial career.

"Massively frustrated. Congrats to Brighton, they played a super game against a bad opponent. We were really not good today and I can't remember a good phase, period or whatever," Klopp told PLP.

"We tried to help the boys with a different formation but it didn't work out at all. My responsibility, I know that. Tried to change it again in the second half but we were completely on the wrong foot.

"In moments it looked too easy for Brighton, the organisation was completely gone. It was too easy. It was just too easy and you cannot get back in this game.

"I can't remember a worse game, not just at Liverpool, and that's my responsibility. It's a low point."

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson also said that his side deserved to lose on Saturday afternoon.

"I thought Brighton were better than us in all departments, to be honest. It's a real low point for us today as a team. We need to stay together," he told Sky Sports News.

"There's an honest bunch of lads in there and it's a tough moment for us as a team, for sure, but we need to get together, we need to stay together and try to change things really quickly because the games are coming thick and fast and we need to try to learn from the day as best we can and show a reaction."

Liverpool will be bidding to bounce back from the Brighton loss when they travel to Molineux on Tuesday to face Wolves in their FA Cup third-round replay.

The Reds will then face Chelsea in the Premier League next weekend, with the Blues also struggling this term, currently sitting down in 10th position in the table. body check tags ::
