Daniel Agger announces retirement from football

Former Liverpool and Denmark defender Daniel Agger announces his retirement from football aged just 31.

Former Liverpool and Denmark defender Daniel Agger has announced his retirement from football.

The 31-year-old came through Brondby's academy before moving to Anfield in 2006, going on to make 232 appearances for the club and helping them to the League Cup in 2012.

He returned to his boyhood club in 2013 to see out his career, and has now confirmed that the 2015-16 campaign will be his last.


Agger, a two-time Danish Footballer of the Year, also made 75 appearances for Denmark, scoring 12 goals.
