West Ham United manager David Moyes has provided an injury update on Jarrod Bowen, Nayef Aguerd and Konstantinos Mavropanos ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Liverpool at London Stadium.

The Hammers enter this contest on the back of a disappointing 5-2 away defeat against Crystal Palace last weekend, a game in which they were four goals behind after just 31 minutes.

Top scorer Bowen, who has 19 goals to his name in all competitions this term, was a notable absentee from the West Ham squad at Selhurst Park, having returned in the previous match against Bayer Leverkusen from a back problem.

Aguerd was also absent due to an ankle problem picked up in that Europa League clash with Leverkusen, while Mavropanos has missed the last two games with a similar injury.

Moyes has since confirmed that Saturday's clash with title hopefuls Liverpool will come too soon for one player, but two other Hammers stars could be fit to return.

West Ham boosted by Bowen's return to training

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Moyes said: "Jarrod Bowen is back training, so there is a good chance he will be available.

"We will still have to monitor him up until kickoff to see how he is, but hopefully Jarrod is back and fit."

"We've got a couple of issues with our centre-backs. Nayef [Aguerd] won't be available as he's not ready yet.

"Dinos [Mavropanos] has got a chance, so we will need to see how he is, but again it's pretty tight and is a quick turnaround in regard to the game being played at lunchtime. Hopefully they will be fine."

Teenage midfielder George Earthy is West Ham's only other injury concern; the 19-year-old sustained a nasty head injury against Fulham a fortnight ago and remains sidelined due to concussion protocols.

Bowen looking to emulate Geoff Hurst scoring feat

Should Bowen be fit to feature and make his 200th West Ham appearance this weekend, he will endeavour to emulate a scoring feat of club legend Geoff Hurst against Liverpool.

Bowen has scored in both meetings against the Merseysiders so far this season, netting in a 3-1 Premier League defeat at Anfield in September, before scoring the Hammers' only goal in a heavy 5-1 EFL Cup defeat three months later.

The only West Ham player in history to score in three different games against Liverpool in the same season is 1966 World Cup winner Hurst, who netted in three separate matches during the 1964-65 campaign.

Bowen has been a standout performer for the Hammers this season, scoring 15 goals in 31 Premier League appearances, although he has only made the net ripple twice across his last nine outings in all competitions.

West Ham currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, two points behind Newcastle United in seventh and five points behind Manchester United in sixth. body check tags ::
