Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: 'Emre Can doubtful against Man City, Ragnar Klavan out'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says that Ragnar Klavan will miss Wednesday's Champions League clash with Manchester City, while revealing that Emre Can remains doubtful.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Ragnar Klavan will not feature in his squad for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final clash with Manchester City.

Earlier on Tuesday, Liverpool announced that Joel Matip would likely miss the rest of the campaign with a thigh problem, which seemingly left the Merseyside giants with just three fit centre-backs for the meeting with the Premier League leaders.

However, at his pre-match press conference, Klopp said that Klavan was also not fit enough to play a part at Anfield, with Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren the only remaining central defenders at the club.

Klopp also claimed that Emre Can remains a doubt for the fixture, although insists that the versatile German international is "very, very close" to recovering from a back injury.

Midfielder Adam Lallana has been ruled out for "a number of weeks" after sustaining a hamstring injury at Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
