Jurgen Klopp turns attention to Premier League after Barcelona defeat

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp turns his attention to the Premier League title race, having seen their Champions League hopes left in tatters by a 3-0 defeat to Barcelona.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has set his sights on bouncing back from their Champions League defeat to Barcelona when his side face Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds were left with a mountain to climb in their bid to reach a second successive Champions League final following a 3-0 first-leg defeat at Camp Nou this evening.

Liverpool are still in the running for a first Premier League title since 1990, though, and would move back above Manchester City at the top of the table if they beat former manager Rafael Benitez's side this weekend.

"Let's recover and go to Newcastle. There is no party in the dressing room, but I told the boys how I saw the game," Klopp told BT Sport.

"We made our experiences, we will learn from it, but they obviously have much more experience. We saw that when they wanted to stop our rhythm, going down, all of that, but it's part of the game. We cannot change that, and I think we reacted well in all those moments. How we defended the counter-attacks - wow - big heart there.

"We will play again and we will see. We made our life not easier with that result, but we don't have to think about [the second leg] right now, we think about Newcastle which is much more important."

Liverpool are reliant on Man City dropping points in one of their two remaining games in order to have a chance of winning the Premier League title this season.
