Leicester City are reportedly still in the running to sign Ben Gibson from Middlesbrough but will wait until later in the window to make a move.

The 24-year-old is understood to be on the radar of six Premier League clubs, including last season's top-two sides Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

City are unwilling to pay the centre-back's £25m asking price and, according to the Leicester Mercury, they will instead play the waiting game and test Boro's resolve with a smaller offer further down the line.

Gibson helped the Smoggies to 11 clean sheets in the Premier League last season and openly admits that he would like to remain in the top flight following relegation last term.

Everton, Southampton and Stoke City are the other sides to have been linked with Gibson, though no formal offer has yet been tabled.
