Leicester City part company with manager Claude Puel

Leicester City announce that they have parted company with manager Claude Puel following a 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace.

Leicester City have parted company with manager Claude Puel following Saturday's 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace.

Puel's future at the King Power Stadium had come under increasing scrutiny during a poor spell of form which saw them lose six and win none of his final seven games in charge.

Leicester's last win in any competition came on New Year's Day, since when the Foxes have slumped from seventh place to 12th and seen the gap between themselves and the relegation zone cut by half.

"Leicester City Football Club has today parted company with Claude Puel, who leaves his position as first team manager with immediate effect," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The club would like to thank Claude for his efforts in leading the team during his 16 months in the role and wish him well in his future career. Assistant Manager Jacky Bonnevay also departs with the club's best wishes.

"First team coaches Mike Stowell and Adam Sadler, supported by the club's established backroom staff, will assume responsibility for the senior squad while the club begins the process of appointing a new manager. The board will make no further comment until this process is complete."

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been installed as the early favourite to replace Puel on a permanent basis.

Leicester are back in action again on Tuesday night, when they host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.
