Vardy in line for Leicester return but Chilwell a doubt for Palace trip

The England striker has missed the last two games with a groin injury.

Jamie Vardy is set to return for Leicester against Crystal Palace this weekend after shrugging off a groin injury.

Vardy has missed the last two games after coming off in the win against Watford last month but he was back in training on Thursday.

However, Ben Chilwell is a doubt for the trip to Selhurst Park after sitting out the session with a knee problem and he will be assessed by the medical staff.

“Jamie came back this morning with the squad and I think he will be in the squad for this game,” said boss Claude Puel.

“Chilwell felt pain in his knee and we will see tomorrow and take a decision then.”

Harry Maguire could return to the side after being on the bench for the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham following a knee injury.

Leicester are ninth in the Premier League and return to Selhurst Park for the first time since a 5-0 defeat in April.

It was Puel’s heaviest defeat at the Foxes while Palace also won 3-0 at the King Power Stadium last season.

But Puel insisted their game against the Eagles must not be classed as a revenge mission this time.

“Was a bad day for us of course, it’s not a good memory. But this is another game, not revenge for sure,” he said.

“We must keep the right concentration on our play to grow, take good steps in our play and be more clinical.

“It’s important to look at this team and try to play open football.”
