Hearts are considering Aston Villa assistant boss and former Chelsea defender John Terry for their current managerial vacancy, according to a report.

Hearts are reportedly considering Aston Villa assistant boss John Terry for their current managerial vacancy.

The Jambos have been without a manager since Craig Levein left at the end of last month and the club's chairwoman Ann Budge has been open about conducting a wide search for his replacement.

Stuart McCall, Steve Cotterill and Jack Ross have all been interviewed already by Hearts, with the latter being appointed as the new boss of city rivals Hibernian on Friday.

The Birmingham Mail now reports that Terry is also among their list of candidates following his impressive stint as Dean Smith's number two at Villa.

The former Chelsea and England captain has been praised for the work he does on the training ground and he was thought to be in serious contention for the West Bromwich Albion job in the summer before Slaven Bilic took over.

While Cotterill is now the bookies favourite to get the Hearts job, Terry is thought to be among the names being considered by the club's board, along with Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson and former Dundee boss Neil McCann.
