Ashley Cole's career in pictures

The 37-year-old has been released by LA Galaxy.

Ashley Cole is without a club after being released by LA Galaxy at the end of his contract with the Major League Soccer club.

The full-back, capped 107 times for England, had been captain of the Los Angeles outfit before they decided not to re-sign him after two years at the club.

Here, Press Association Sport takes a look at the 37-year-old's glittering career in pictures.

Impressed again at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, despite England again failing to make it past the quarter-finals (Owen Humphreys/PA)
Lifted the FA Cup for the second time in 2007. He went on to win the trophy a record seven times in his career (Rebecca Naden/PA)
Scored his first Chelsea goal in the 4-0 win over West Ham at Upton Park (Sean Dempsey/PA)
Was part of the England side that failed to qualify for Euro 2008 under Steve McClaren (Nick Potts/PA)
Lifted the Premier League title – the third and final one of his career – with Chelsea in 2010 (Nick Potts/PA)
Suffered more misery against Germany at the 2010 World Cup, where England crashed out in the last 16 (Martin Rickett/PA)
Fast-forward to 2012 and Cole was in the right place at the right time to clear off the line and help Chelsea into the Champions League final for the second time in four years (Nick Potts/PA)
It was third time lucky for Cole, who scored in the decisive penalty shootout as Chelsea lifted the Champions League after beating Bayern Munich (Owen Humphreys/PA)
Was part of the side that won the Europa League the following year to add to his list of club honours (John Walton/PA)
