Brazil international Bernard arrives for Everton medical

Brazilian midfielder Bernard is close to finalising a move to Everton, having been pictured arriving on Merseyside for his medical.

Former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Bernard has arrived on Merseyside to undergo a medical with Everton ahead of completing a free transfer.

The Toffees appear to have won the race for the in-demand Brazil international, who has previously been strongly linked with Chelsea, Inter Milan and West Ham United.

Bernard has been weighing up his options since leaving Shakhtar at the end of last season, and Everton - thanks to manager Marco Silva - are now on the brink of pulling off a big coup.

Pictures of the 25-year-old arriving in England circulated on Wednesday afternoon, with Sky Sports News reporting that a medical will take place over the next 24 hours.

A work permit must still be granted for Bernard, although personal terms are said to have been agreed.
