Everton's Wayne Rooney 'fined two weeks' wages' following drink-driving conviction

Everton reportedly fine Wayne Rooney two weeks' wages worth around £300,000 after being convicted of drink-driving.

Everton have reportedly fined Wayne Rooney two weeks' wages after he was convicted of drink-driving.

The former England international issued an apology to his fans after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Rooney admitted in Stockport Magistrates' Court on Monday to driving three times over the legal limit when he was stopped and arrested by police in Cheshire on September 1.

The former Manchester United star, whose relationship with wife Coleen has come under the media's microscope as a result of the incident, was issued with a two-year driving ban and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

Now, according to The Guardian, Rooney has been fined around £300,000 by his club, and the money will be donated to the Toffees' charitable organisation Everton in the Community.

Rooney's most recent appearance for the Merseyside outfit was in Sunday's 4-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
