Everton must prove their character against Millwall, insists Lucas Digne

By Carl Markham, | 4d
The Toffees' poor league form has increased scrutiny on manager Marco Silva.

Everton defender Lucas Digne admits their FA Cup trip to Millwall is a character test the players have to pass.

Two wins in 10 league matches has increased the scrutiny on manager Marco Silva and the team, who are only three points better off than they were at the same stage 12 months ago under the much-maligned Sam Allardyce, their third boss of the campaign.

Everton edged past League Two leaders Lincoln in the previous round of the cup but it was a far from convincing display.

However, having got past the third round for only the second time in five seasons, Digne is aware of the importance of Saturday's match at The Den.

"We need to win," the summer signing from Barcelona told evertonfccom.

"After the draw was made, I spoke to Ademola (Lookman) and Gana (Idrissa Gueye) and Kurt (Zouma). They told me it is a difficult place to play and sometimes the fans are very loud.

"In football, sometimes you need to prove your character and I think we can prove it again at Millwall."
