England move into 12th place in FIFA World Rankings

England move up three places into 12th spot in the updated FIFA World Rankings, while Scotland and Republic of Ireland break into the top 30.

England have improved their position in the FIFA World Rankings by three places courtesy of wins over Slovenia and Lithuania earlier in October.

The Three Lions came in for criticism after the narrow victories in their World Cup qualifying group, but Gareth Southgate's team now sit in 12th position ahead of friendlies with Germany and Brazil.

Scotland, meanwhile, have improved by 14 places, with the Tartan Army now holding 29th spot due to a triumph over Slovakia and a 2-2 draw away in Slovenia.

Wales are in 14th after their defeat to Republic of Ireland, who improve by eight places after reaching the World Cup playoffs with back-to-back victories.

Northern Ireland are back down to 23rd, meaning that Michael O'Neill's side and Martin O'Neill's Green Army will be unseeded when the playoff draw is made on Tuesday afternoon.
