How England could line up against Denmark

England manager Gareth Southgate ought to stick with the highly effective 4-2-3-1 setup for the Three Lions' Euro 2020 semi-final showdown with Denmark at Wembley on Wednesday evening.

Southgate's side simply cruised past Ukraine 4-0 in the quarters to make it back-to-back semi-final appearances at a major tournament, and the only real dilemma for the England coach is who to field on the right-hand side of the attack.

Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka picked up a knock in training which ruled him out of the quarter-final entirely, and Jadon Sancho - despite failing to register a goal or assist - was in impressive form despite the saga surrounding his imminent Manchester United arrival.

However, Southgate expects Saka to be fine for this encounter, and the Hale End academy product could displace Sancho on the right given his ability to attack and defend in equal measure against the free-scoring Danes.

Another 4-2-3-1 setup would see an unchanged back four in Kyle Walker, Luke Shaw, John Stones and Harry Maguire all take to the field again, with the latter managing to avoid a booking against Ukraine which would have ruled him out here.

Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips have also avoided a game on the naughty step and will look to keep Jordan Henderson out of the team, in spite of the fact that the Liverpool man netted his first England goal at the 62nd attempt on Saturday.

Mason Mount should keep his place in the number 10 role after coming out of isolation, while the irrepressible duo of Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane will seek to build on their remarkable tallies for England.

Manchester City attacker Sterling has produced 15 goals and seven assists from his last 21 games for England, while Man City target Kane has 18 goals and nine assists to his name from his last 26 caps.

England possible starting lineup: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw; Rice, Phillips; Saka, Mount, Sterling; Kane
