Chelsea prepared to make Thibaut Courtois world's highest-paid goalkeeper?

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to make Thibaut Courtois the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world in order to keep the Belgian stopper at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have reportedly told Thibaut Courtois that they are prepared to make him the highest-paid goalkeeper in world football.

Courtois has 18 months remaining on his existing deal at Stamford Bridge, but the 25-year-old has expressed a desire to move back to Spain in the future, where the Belgian international has previously represented Atletico Madrid.

However, Chelsea remain eager to keep Courtois in West London and according to The Telegraph, the Blues hierarchy are willing to double the stopper's wages to £200,000 per week.

Courtois has allegedly indicated that he will wait until the end of the campaign before making a decision over the next stage of his career, but Chelsea are increasingly confident that they can tie down their number one to a long-term contract.

In 2011, Chelsea paid Genk a fee of £5m to sign Courtois, who has since gone on to make 133 appearances in all competitions, with three years having been spent on loan at Atletico.
