Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have bolstered their squad with the additions of Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Angelo Gabriel and Diego Moreira, but they are still keen to make further signings this summer.

The goalkeeping department has been identified as one area in need of improvement due to the lack of competition for the current number one Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Edouard Mendy was sold earlier this summer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, while Gabriel Slonina is close to completing a loan move to KAS Eupen in Belgium.

With Marcus Bettinelli recovering from an injury, Chelsea are currently without a recognised backup option for Arrizabalaga.

According to the Daily Mail, the Blues are exploring a possible deal for Sanchez, who has two years left on his Brighton contract.

Chelsea goalkeeper coach Ben Roberts could play a role in a potential move, having worked with Sanchez during his time on the Brighton staff.

Despite showing an interest in the Brighton shot-stopper, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will step up their pursuit with an official bid.

Sanchez, who has been with the Seagulls for 10 years, has kept 29 clean sheets in 90 competitive appearances for the South-coast club.

However, he lost his place in the Brighton side during the second half of last season, after Roberto De Zerbi decided to favour Jason Steele as his first-choice goalkeeper.

The Seagulls have also signed Bart Verbruggen from Anderlecht this summer, making it difficult for Sanchez to force his way back into the lineup.

Any potential negotiations for Sanchez could be affected by the ongoing discussions between Chelsea and Brighton over Ecuador international Moises Caicedo.

The two clubs are yet to reach an agreement for the midfielder, with Brighton reluctant to shift from their £100m asking price. body check tags ::
