Arsenal confirm David Raya signing on initial loan deal
Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Brentford goalkeeper David Raya on an initial season-long loan deal, with an option to make the move permanent in 2024.
The Spain international is believed to have cost the Gunners £3m for the current campaign, and the club are expected to sign him permanently for around £27m next summer.
Raya becomes Arsenal's fourth signing of the summer window, following Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz to the club as he prepares to engage in a fierce battle with Aaron Ramsdale for the number one jersey.
"I'm over the moon to be able to take this challenge in my career and make the step up," Raya told Arsenal's media channels. "I'm really excited to get going and see how the season ends up.

Tottenham 'keen to sell Hojbjerg, Ndombele'
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Tanguy Ndombele available for transfer this summer.
Neither player featured in the side's 2-2 draw with Brentford in their Premier League opener on Sunday.
Ndombele is currently out injured, while new manager Ange Postecoglou left Hojbjerg on the bench, preferring a midfield duo of Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp.
After spending last year on loan at Serie A champions Napoli, it is believed club-record signing Ndombele will be sold in the final few weeks of the window.

Chelsea 'in advanced talks to sign Romeo Lavia'
Chelsea have reportedly moved clear of Liverpool in the race to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton.
Lavia is being chased by both clubs, but Chelsea are now believed to be in advanced talks for the young Belgian midfielder.
Liverpool have already had a £60m bid accepted by Southampton for the 19-year-old, but look set to miss out on another target.
That comes after Chelsea also beat the Reds to the signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion, with the move being confirmed on Monday evening.

Arsenal to move for Laporte after Timber injury?
Arsenal have reportedly re-entered the race for Manchester City's Aymeric Laporte following Jurrien Timber's recent injury.
Timber was forced off before half-time in Arsenal's Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest on Saturday with what looks like a serious knee injury.
Takehiro Tomiyasu replaced the new signing with first-choice left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko injured and Kieran Tierney also not in the squad.
All three players have had history with injuries though and now the severity of Timber's may see Arsenal dip back into the market.

Brighton CEO surprised Caicedo chose Chelsea over Liverpool
Brighton & Hove Albion CEO Paul Barber has admitted that he was left surprised by Moises Caicedo's decision to reject a move to Liverpool in favour of joining Chelsea.
The 21-year-old had been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout the summer transfer window before Liverpool decided to enter the race for his signature earlier this month.
Brighton, who made it clear that they were holding out for a nine-figure fee for Caicedo, accepted a £110m bid from Liverpool last Friday and the midfielder was expected to head to Merseyside for a medical.
However, there was another twist in the transfer saga as Caicedo opted to turn down a transfer to Anfield after making it clear that his heart was set on a move to Chelsea.

Transfer rumours: PL clubs want McCarthy, Everton still keen on Gnonto, Demiral to Saudi Arabia
Crystal Palace and Everton are reportedly both interested in signing Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.
The 33-year-old has been contracted to the Saints since 2016, making a total of 139 appearances in all competitions, but the South-coast outfit have now been relegated to the Championship.
McCarthy is also now no more than third choice under Russell Martin, and all parties are now searching for a solution for the veteran stopper before the end of the summer transfer window.
According to the Evening Standard, former club Palace and Everton are looking to add the Englishman to their ranks after negotiations allegedly broke down with Luton Town.

Aston Villa 'get green light to sign Nicolo Zaniolo'
Aston Villa are reportedly close to securing a loan deal for Galatasaray winger Nicolo Zaniolo.
Less than a week ago, the West Midlands outfit appeared well prepared to enter the 2023-24 Premier League campaign with hopes of a top-six finish.
While that remains the case, Villa have suffered three major blows, including a 5-1 defeat to Newcastle United that also saw Tyrone Mings suffer a potentially season-ending knee injury.
In the days preceding that incident, Unai Emery also lost the services of winger Emiliano Buendia for at least six months due to a similar issue sustained in training.

West Ham 'ready to consider Maguire alternatives'
West Ham United are reportedly contemplating ending their interest in Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.
Throughout the summer transfer window, it has been anticipated that the Hammers will have in excess of £100m to spend once Declan Rice departed for elsewhere.
However, since the club legend moved to Arsenal in a £105 deal, West Ham have taken their time before finalising a number of additions, their incomings only set in motion last week.
David Moyes has been able to add each of Ajax's Edson Alvarez and Southampton's James Ward-Prowse to his midfield, and a further option may arrive in due course.

Bayern to rival Saudi Arabian clubs for De Gea?
Bayern Munich have reportedly moved to try to secure a deal for goalkeeper David de Gea.
Having seen his long-term association with Manchester United come to an end earlier in the summer, De Gea is available as a free agent.
While he has been linked with a number of clubs in recent week, the 32-year-old has been in no rush to pen a contract with any admirers as he continues to contemplate his options.
More recently, the Spain international has been identified as a potential addition by a number of clubs competing in the Saudi Pro League, including Al-Nassr.

Newcastle to hijack Crystal Palace deal for Lewis Hall?
Newcastle United are reportedly looking to hijack Crystal Palace's deal to sign Chelsea youngster Lewis Hall.
The 18-year-old had been expected to put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge before moving to the Eagles on a season-long loan deal.
However, the Daily Mail reports that Newcastle are exploring a deal to sign Hall on a permanent basis from Chelsea.
Eddie Howe is in the market for a new left-back and Hall has emerged as once of his latest targets heading into the final three weeks of the summer transfer window.
