Liverpool have their confidence back after beating bottom side Sheffield United to end a four-game losing run in the league, according to Georginio Wijnaldum.

Georginio Wijnaldum has warned top-four rivals Chelsea that Liverpool will head into Thursday's huge clash in a confident mood after ending their losing streak.

The Reds beat bottom side Sheffield United 2-0 on Sunday evening through a Curtis Jones strike and Kean Bryan's own goal to pick up their first points in five games.

Liverpool are now back to within a point of fifth-placed Chelsea, who played out a goalless draw with Manchester United earlier in the day, with the two sides set to face off at Anfield later this week.

Wijnaldum is hopeful that the victory at Bramall Lane can provide the reigning champions a timely confidence boost ahead of a potentially pivotal game in their Premier League campaign.

"It gives us confidence because the last few games we've conceded a lot of goals so that will help us as we look towards Chelsea next," he told Liverpool's official website.

"I think it's a good thing if you win a lot in a row, but I think this is a good one to stop the losses that we have had before.

"I think this is really good for the team and it gives a good feeling again [ahead of] the next game and also lifts our confidence."

Wijnaldum, a summer transfer target for Barcelona, has started 36 times for Liverpool in all competitions this season.
