Chelsea legend Petr Cech is reportedly set to come out of retirement and start in between the sticks for the Blues' youth team on Monday.

Cech established a reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the world during his time at Stamford Bridge, and the 38-year-old decided to hang up his gloves last year after a stint at London rivals Arsenal.

The former Czech Republic number one has since been working for Chelsea as a performance advisor, but Cech was named in Frank Lampard's Premier League squad as emergency cover for the 2020-21 campaign.

Now, The Athletic claim that Cech will play for Chelsea's Under-23s side against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday evening, with the shot-stopper still partaking in training sessions with the Blues to keep his skills sharp.

The veteran is available to play in the top flight for the senior side, but a Premier League return is unlikely unless an injury crisis rules Edouard Mendy, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero out of action.

Cech registered 494 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions between 2004 and 2015, winning four Premier League titles and one Champions League crown in that time. body check tags ::
