Guillem Balague: 'Frank Lampard wants to manage Barcelona'

Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague says that Chelsea manager Frank Lampard wants to become Barcelona's head coach.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is keen to become Barcelona's head coach "in the not too distant future", according to Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague.

Lampard started his managerial career with Derby County before being appointed Chelsea boss, and the former England international led the Blues to a top-four finish in last season's Premier League.

The 42-year-old is currently going through a difficult period at Stamford Bridge, though, with a poor run of results leading to suggestions that he could be relieved of his duties as head coach.

According to Balague, having missed out on representing the likes of Barca and Real Madrid as a player, Lampard is keen to manage in La Liga and is eyeing the top position at Camp Nou.

"His dream is to train in La Liga and do what he couldn't do during his days as a player. He would like to sit in the dugout at the Nou Camp and coach Barca in the not too distant future," Balague told Esport3.

Lampard has won 41, drawn 17 and lost 22 of his 80 matches in charge of the Blues.
