UEFA to investigate Kylian Mbappe incident

UEFA opens disciplinary proceedings against Celtic after a fan stormed the pitch and aimed a kick at Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe.

UEFA has opened up disciplinary proceedings against Celtic after a fan stormed the pitch during last night's 5-0 home loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Play was briefly paused during the first half of the encounter when a man found his way onto the pitch and attempted to kick PSG's 18-year-old striker Kylian Mbappe before being restrained by stewards.

The man was subsequently arrested by police but now UEFA has confirmed that it has launched disciplinary action against Rodgers's side.

Celtic have already been disciplined 11 times over the last six years for their conduct in European games, amassing more than £160,000 in fines during that period.

Speaking after the game, Rodgers described the incident as "bitterly disappointing" and insisted that "the club will deal with whoever that supporter was".
