Brendan Rodgers praises "quality" performance

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says that his side demonstrated their "quality" in their 2-0 win over Old Firm rivals Rangers.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has praised his side for demonstrating their "quality" this afternoon to claim a 2-0 victory at Rangers.

After a goalless first period, Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths got on the scoresheet in the second half to extend the Hoops' remarkable unbeaten domestic run to 57 games, five shy of equalling a 100-year-old club record.

"It was a very good performance," Rodgers told Sky Sports News afterwards. "The quality came through in the end. We lacked the final ball in the opening period... They had two chances on the counter attack. Second half, we took control of the game.

"The players showed courage today to pass the ball in an incredible atmosphere. When we did that, then we were able to open Rangers up. It's part of our game that's really developed.

The result moves Celtic five points clear of Aberdeen - and eight points clear of Gers - at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
