Brendan Rodgers: 'Celtic lacked cutting edge against Motherwell'

Brendan Rodgers concedes that Celtic were 'not incisive enough' in their meeting with Motherwell, which ended in a goalless draw at Fir Park.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confessed that his side "needed to be more incisive" in their Scottish Premiership stalemate with Motherwell.

The Hoops were held to a third 0-0 draw in nine top-flight outings, as they failed to break down their 10-man opponents at Fir Park on Sunday afternoon.

Rodgers acknowledges that a lack of cutting edge cost Celtic maximum points on their travels, but says that the league leaders remain in a strong position heading into the two-week international break.

"You have to respect that the game changes when they go to ten men," he told BBC Sport of Cedric Kipre's 41st-minute dismissal. "I was pleased with the approach but we needed to be more incisive in the final third.

"It was a difficult day with the wind and the pitch but we got a point and that puts us ten clear with eight games to. We're in a great position when we come back from the international break."

Celtic have back-to-back home games against Ross County and Dundee United once the Scottish Premiership resumes at the end of the month.
