Jay Rodriguez is reportedly set to complete a return to Burnley this summer after the Premier League club agreed to pay the West Bromwich Albion striker's £10m release clause.

The striker was born in Burnley and began his career at Turf Moor, scoring 41 goals for the club before moving to Southampton for £7m in 2012.

Burnley displayed interest in signing Rodriguez last year, with manager Sean Dyche said to be an admirer of the 27-year-old.

According to the Daily Mail, the Burnley boss has given the green light for the club to pay the £10m fee to release Rodriguez from West Brom this summer.

The Clarets, who finished 15th in the Premier League last season, have reportedly struck an agreement with Stoke City for the transfer of full-back Erik Pieters.

Dyche has also placed emphasis on securing another central defender amid burgeoning interest for England international James Tarkowski, who is valued by the club at £40m.
