David Hopkin gets vote of confidence from Bradford’s joint owner

The struggling Bantams are bottom of the Sky Bet League One table.

Bradford head coach David Hopkin has received a public vote of confidence from the club’s joint owner.

The struggling Bantams are bottom of the Sky Bet League One table and have lost seven of nine league games since Hopkin’s appointment early last month.

Stefan Rupp, who took control of the Yorkshire club alongside fellow German Edin Rahic in 2016, insists Hopkin retains his full support.

“David is the man to take us forward – in the long term – and get the team moving in the right direction, away from the foot of the table,” said Rupp on the club’s official website.

“He faces a huge challenge, there is no doubt about that, but we all stand right behind him.”

Hopkin took charge of City on September 4 following the sacking of Michael Collins.

The 48-year-old has been promised funds to improve his squad in January.

“David is currently scouring the market to strengthen the squad as injuries continue to trouble us,” added Rupp.

“If our position does not improve then David will be backed in January and there will be money to spend. He will get complete support in terms of the players he wishes to bring to the club.

“Staying in League One is of paramount importance and we will do everything in our power to ensure this season ends on a positive note.”
