Stuttgart have completed the signing of Australian goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund.

The 26-year-old had spent five seasons at Dortmund, but he was unable to replace Roman Weidenfeller as the club's first-choice keeper.

He has now signed a three-year deal with Stuttgart, who narrowly avoided relegation from the German top flight last season.

"Langerak has a positive attitude and proved in Dortmund that he is a big goalkeeping talent," Stuttgart manager Alexander Zorninger told reporters. "He moved ahead of a world champion like Roman Weidenfeller at least temporarily last season.

"He is a really good keeper. I watched him several times and have seen only one match in which he did not look so good, and that was the cup final, so I told [VfB sporting director] Robin Dutt: 'If we can get him, bring him in immediately.'"

Langerak has made six appearances for the Australia national side.
