Inter Miami president Jorge Mas is "very optimistic" that his side will be able to sign Lionel Messi at some stage in the future.

The 35-year-old still has another year left to run on his contract at Paris Saint-Germain, with the option of a further 12 months, and he will spend the 2022-23 campaign in the French capital.

However, there have been claims that the Argentina international is planning to leave PSG on a free next summer, and Inter Miami are confident of being able to bring him to the MLS.

"Well, look, both David Beckham and I aspire to bring the best players in the world here to Miami, not only because of the project we are creating. We want to be the point of reference for soccer in the United States, but when you talk about the best players in the world, Leo is obviously the best player on the planet," Mas told reporters.

"Hopefully the conditions will be met for him to be there, playing with the United States Inter Miami jersey. We aspire to that. I hope the circumstances are given. We have nothing guaranteed, there is no agreement, but I am a very optimistic man and I hope that in the future Leo Messi can be part of our project."

Elsewhere, Monaco have reportedly made a £15m offer for Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

The 23-year-old only joined Leicester from Lille last summer, but he found it difficult to make his mark for the Foxes during the 2021-22 campaign.

The former France Under-21s international still has another five years left to run on his contract at King Power Stadium, but according to the Daily Mail, Monaco have made a £15m bid for his services.

The report claims that Brendan Rodgers's side are prepared to sell the midfielder for the right price this summer, and the Ligue 1 outfit view him as a possible replacement for Aurelien Tchouameni.

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, Nottingham Forest are interested in bringing Real Betis defender Alex Moreno to the club this summer.

The 29-year-old, who has also been linked with Fulham and Barcelona this summer, was in strong form for his Spanish club during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring five times and registering five assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.

The report claims that Forest are keen to explore a deal for the Spaniard, with Steve Cooper's side looking to continue their summer spending in the coming weeks.

Moreno joined Betis from Rayo Vallecano in 2019, and he has represented the Seville club on 103 appearances in all competitions, contributing six goals and 11 assists in the process.

Elsewhere, five Championship clubs are reportedly interested in signing Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle during this summer's transfer window.

The 32-year-old is expected to leave the Magpies in the current market, as he seeks regular action for the 2022-23 campaign.

According to Football Insider, Birmingham City, Huddersfield Town, Preston North End, Reading and Millwall are all keen to sign him in the current market.

The forward failed to find the back of the net in nine appearances for the Magpies last term, with eight of those outings coming in the Premier League. body check tags ::
