Neymar has reportedly paused contract talks with Paris Saint-Germain as he is keen to return to Barcelona.

The 29-year-old's existing deal with the French champions is due to expire next June, but it had been thought that he was on the verge of penning a new long-term contract in Paris.

Talk of a return to Barca has quietened in recent months, with the Catalan giants believed to be concentrating on signing Lionel Messi to a new deal and bringing Borussia Dortmund's Erling Braut Haaland to Camp Nou.

However, according to ARA, Neymar has put the brakes on renewal talks with Mauricio Pochettino's side as he wants to return to La Liga to play alongside Messi, who is now said to be leaning towards extending his stay at the club rather than leaving on a free transfer amid interest from Manchester City.

The report claims that the PSG forward has already made it clear to Barca that he would be prepared to return to the club during this summer's transfer window.

Neymar scored 105 goals and registered 76 assists in 186 appearances for the Catalan giants between 2013 and 2017 before making the move to Paris.
