Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal is reportedly expected to miss out on a move to Inter Milan.

Having spent 18 months as a squad player under Ernesto Valverde, the Chile international has been lined up for a return to Serie A with Inter Milan.

Due to allegedly being keen to raise transfer funds, Barcelona were said to be prepared to cash in on the 32-year-old for a fee in the region of £15m.

However, according to reports in Spain, newly-appointed manager Quique Setien wants to keep Vidal at Camp Nou until the end of the season.

The report suggests that Setien intends to hand Vidal more minutes during the second half of the campaign - a result of being an admirer of his physicality in the centre of the pitch.

The player still has 18 months remaining on his contract.
