Barcelona president Joan Laporta says that his club will do their best to make space for new signings in January.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said that his club will "try to" improve their squad in January despite the ongoing financial problems at Camp Nou.

The recently-appointed Xavi is believed to be determined to bring a new forward to Camp Nou in January, with Sergio Aguero potentially unavailable for the remainder of the campaign.

Barcelona will have to sell before they can buy in January, but Xavi has insisted that Frenkie de Jong will not be leaving the club at the start of 2022.

Laporta has conceded that "at the moment" it will be difficult for the club to sign any new players, but the president is hopeful that the situation will change over the next few weeks.

"Xavi has asked us to reinforce the squad and we'll try to," Laporta told TV3. "But, at the moment, we have no room to manoeuvre with regard to our salary limits. At the moment I don't think it's possible, but we have to let the sporting management work."

Barcelona will be bidding to make it three straight league wins under their new manager when they welcome Real Betis to Camp Nou on Saturday afternoon. body check tags ::
